Sustainability

We are proud to bring you products that are filled with genuinely local ingredients and we are committed to supporting a more sustainable future.  You can learn more about what we are doing below.

Our Approaches to Sustainability

Planting

We have planted a 20-tree orchard on our property that is not only providing fruit but also supports a broader habitat for wildlife.

We also use fruit and vegetables from our own plot (around 30 square metres) in our products to give the lowest food miles possible.

Plastics

We have eliminated all single-use plastics in showcasing our products and ensuring that our plastic use is kept to a bare minimum.

Greener Energy

We have solar panels on our roof and a heat pump for our home.  We use a solar-powered battery pack to light our stall and cool our fridge at fairs and aim to keep as much of our energy use as renewable as possible.

Local

All the fruit in our gins and cider comes from within no more than 10 miles of our property.

We source our glass containers from a local provider.  We focus on local fairs to avoid excess travel.

Reducing Waste

We recycle as much as we can and have done away with our green bin - we compost our natural waste including all of the pressed cider apples which go into our plot to help grow the next season of produce.

We recycle and clean glass bottles for future batches of gin and cider.  We do not throw away produce that is imperfect, we would rather be a bit wonky than wasteful.

Natural Friends

Our colonies of bees not only help to pollinate our own fruit but also help with the wider environment, supporting a more diverse range of wild flowers.

We also do a lot of the alcohol processing manually, especially cider.  This eliminates dirty and wasteful machinery.
